Sedgwick Fire Department is an all-volunteer organization whose members provide fire & rescue services to the City of Sedgwick residents and visitors and mutual aid and automatic aid assistance to surrounding communities.
Sedgwick Fire Department maintains the ability to respond to fires, specialty rescue emergencies, hazmat emergencies, and medical emergencies. We maintain this readiness through training and education and we advance public safety through training, fire prevention, inspection, investigation, and education.
Sedgwick Fire Department is headed by Chief Zane Hansen. Chief Hansen has lived in the community his entire life and graduated from Sedgwick High School in 2006. He joined the service in 2011 and works full-time in Harvey County as the Division Chief of Training for Newton Fire/EMS.

We are always looking for new volunteers!
We are neighbors helping neighbors. Some members are exclusively firefighters, some medical responders, and other members choose to serve in both capacities. We do not have set schedules or on-call times. We keep it relaxed in a do what you can when you can mentality. Any person with medical training can assist with emergency medical response, nurses are very welcome.
The City of Sedgwick also offers a pay-per-call benefit to reimburse you for your time and effort and will sponsor you for any education or training related to your service as a first responder.
